heart of compassion malas

I make authentic Buddhist malas, using semi-precious stones and special woods and seeds. Malas are strings of prayer beads used with a mantra, held, or worn gently as a way of praying, focusing, and staying mindful. Traditionally malas are used by Buddhists, Yogis, and Hindus. But these days more and more people from all lifestyles enjoy them.

Looking for a lightweight seed to make malas from, I stumbled upon this cream-colored bead with brownish, black cracks.  It looks like little nuts!  To me, it is a perfect mala to meditate with or to wear, although not a traditional material.  This one has been popular in my Etsy shop, but is definitely for certain people only.  Not a typical mala.

I have to say, this one reminds me of Fiji and Hawaii—places where I’ve enjoyed beautiful times in nature.  The sea meets the mountains meet the sky in the most glorious displays, truly peaceful and blissful places.  The Fijians who I met were truly the calmest people I have ever had the pleasure to encounter.
